Steve is
a genuine one-of-a-kind in his field. He has extensive experience
both as an Accountant in Public Practice (the first twelve
years of his career) and as a Marketing Expert, focused solely
on marketing the services of public accounting firms for the
last ten years. A combination rarely found in firms providing
marketing services to Accounting Firms.
He has
been in your shoes, both as a sole practitioner and a partner
in a local firm, and truly understands the frustrations many
experience when starting a marketing effort. As a result,
he has gained international acclaim for his work with Accounting
firms.
He has
broadcast on BBC Radio, published many articles in the local,
professional and national press and spoken at numerous seminars
and conferences. His focus is on improving your bottom line

What
makes Steve qualified to help you with your marketing?
Well, you'll

his basic qualifications, apart from his experience include:
He started
his career in 1980, when he joined a small firm of Chartered
Accountants in the UK. After attaining his accounting designation
in 1983, he joined a national firm who recognized his practice
development skills and gave him an almost free reign over
their local marketing drive.
After his
direct manager left to start his own practice, Steve joined
him a year later, where he worked his way up to Partner level,
opening two new offices for the firm as the practice grew
over a number of years. Eventually that firm was sold for
a very substantial sum and Steve decided to become a sole
practitioner for a while, rapidly building a six-figure income
practice.
By 1991,
Steve found that he was spending less and less time interfacing
with clients, and more time dealing with administrative and
compliance issues, something with which he was not happy.
In 1992
he received an offer from a neighbouring CA firm to buy him
out, which he saw as an opportunity to do two things:

Realize
a capital sum for his efforts, and
-
Concentrate
on what he loves (and does) best - providing marketing services
for accounting firms.
From
then on he has concentrated solely on this area of work, both
as Director of Marketing for two of the UK's leading independent
firms, and latterly as a freelance marketing consultant to
practitioners around the world.
In 1994
he earned his Ph.D in Marketing Professional Services and
qualified as a member of both Mensa and The Institute of Direct
Marketing - a busy year indeed. Some of his other achievements
include:

Taking
one firm from a four-partner, three office practice to a
twentyfour-partner, ten office firm
- Establishing the same
practice as the UK's Fastest Growing Accounting Firm

Increasing
seminar attendees by over 500% at another CA firm
-
Winning
the Marketing Guild's Annual Award for Marketing Excellence,
in 1994
- Designing and implementing
an award-winning Public Relations campaign for another client
firm
As
a consultant, Steve has worked with every type of Accounting
firm, from the sole practitioner starting on his own from a
spare bedroom, to national firms with many branches and a complex
political environment.
Since moving
to Canada in 1998, when he married his Canadian Fiancée,
he has worked with a number of firms of Chartered Accountants
both in Canada and the United Kingdom, and American CPA firms,
helping his clients to focus on the issues that generate results,
particularly in Ottawa, Calgary, Toronto and Hamilton in Canada,
New York, Chicago and Boston in the USA and London, Manchester,
Liverpool, Bristol, Leeds and Birmingham in the UK.
